A team of Swedish researchers say they have devised a mathematical model to help doctors decide the optimal number of embryos to transfer during an IVF cycle to ensure pregnancy while significantly reducing the risks of multiples. The researchers believe that, when used, their model is robust enough to aid reproductive endocrinologists in bringing the percentage of IVF-related multiple gestation pregnancies down to that of the general population.
