My story begins in 1995. I always had very irregular periods, so the day we got back from our honeymoon, we were at the doctors. We tried clomid for a year with absolutely no results. We did learn that I do not ovulate. The next step was a laparoscopy where it was discovered that I have endometriosis. Following surgery we did one month of fertinex with an iui and got pregnant! We were completely in shock that it worked so quickly. Our beautiful baby boy was born on December 8, 1997. When he was six months old we decided to try again. This is where the roller coaster began for us. We tried 6 iui's with no results. I was up to 6 amps of follistim a day, and not producing any follicles. I was so depressed because the medication made my face break out terribly. I have never had an acne problem, and there were pimples covering my entire face. Everyone, even strangers, questioned me about it. Emotionally I needed a break from the whole fertility gamble. I decided to take some much needed time off for myself. My DH agreed. I was a complete mess! I never stopped longing for another child, so we decided to try again with ivf. I responded extremely well to the stims. Actually I responded too well. I had over 50 follicles. They removed 27 eggs, and of those 17 fertilized. Unfortunately due to hyperstimulation they all had to be frozen, and I ended up in the hospital for 4 days. I was never so scared in my life. They tapped my abdomen to remove some of the fluid, but it returned. I was on an IV and oxygen. They also kept checking me for kidney failure. Dh was wonderful and never left my side. All I could think of was my son and who would take care of him if anything happened to me. I was released from the hospital and after 2 weeks on bed rest I was completely back to normal. After a long three months, my RE said we could do our FET. We transferred 3 embryos in February and we are now pregnant with one child. I thank God every night for the child we have, and blessing us with another soon-to-be miracle.
