My son turns one next week

My husband and I have been married for ten years. We started trying to have a child shortly after we were married. When we didn't conceive on our own we went to the doctor. During the next eight years we tried Clomid cycles, Fertinex cycles, IUI cycles, etc. Nothing worked. I was sure I would never become pregnant. Finally, we decided to try IVF. We made the decision that if IVF didn't work that was it. We only had the money to do one cycle.

When five of the eleven eggs retrieved fertilized, I felt that was a huge accomplishment. In my mind, I had five children! Three were transfer and twelve days later I found out that I was pregnant.

I gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby boy. He is the most wonderful thing I've ever created in my life. He just started walking, and today when he was sitting on my lap he leaned over and kissed my cheek for the first time.

All those years I use to wonder and try to imagine what my child would look like. I still look at him and think, "So this is what my child looks like." After a year, it's still hard to believe he is actually mine.
