My husband and I have been married for over 7 years, 5 of which were spend trying to
conceive. Finally after years of being told by our GYN that our inability to get pregnant was due to my lack of menstrual cycles, we moved on to a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE).
Our RE ran a sperm analysis on my husband, which showed low count, poor morphology and motility. The only option we were given was IVF/ICSI. Being that my husband is in the military, we would have to pay out of pocket (over $10,000) to go through with an IVF cycle. We decided to hold off on the procedure, and hope for a miracle.
In Sept. 1997 that miracle happened, we were stationed at a base, which has an IVF clinic and a civilian embryologist. Our out of pocket costs for the civilian partner was around ($4,700). After researching our costs as well as the success rate of this clinic, we attended our first IVF orientation in Sept. of 1998. I couldn't believe my ears when the orientation announcer mentioned there are 100 couples attending this function. And here I thought there would only be a few of us suffering from infertility.
In January of 1999 we went through our first IVF attempt in which 2 blastocysts were transferred. To our surprise both took, but later at 5 months pregnant I found out one of the twins had vanished, leaving only it's little brother behind.
I am now 32 weeks and 3 days pregnant with a healthy baby boy, whom the Lord has blessed us with. I believe my faith in God and the support of my husband has helped me get through the years.
I pray that all of you continue to keep your faith, and I hope you enjoy the same success..............
