Aug 26, 2001 Just found out 3 days ago that our first ICSI was unsuccessful. Also did 2 unsuccessful IUI. Meeting with the doc tomorrow for a status report. It's a roller coaster especially when you have a tendency to over-react to the drugs and hyperstimulate. We'll try one more time and just keep the most positive thoughts. This is a fantastic website - the best on IVF and I've surfed extensively! Good luck everyone.

I'm getting ready to start my first IVF cycle. I'll be 37 in about a week, Hubby is 43. He has never had children. I have 2(ages 9 and 10) from a previous marriage. At the age of 29 I had my tubes tied and shortly after was divorced. Doesn't that just stink?! Anyway, a tubal reversal doesn't sound very promising and my RE has recommended IVF. I'm very nervous but thrilled to have found this site and have already learned so much! I live in the Fresno, CA area. Anyone else from around here?

My husband and I have gone through one ivf cycle and were blessed with a little boy, who is now 3. We tried again with our frozen embryos and had no success. We are thinking of trying again with a clinic in Saskatoon. My thoughts and prays go out to all of you.
Paula - England - 08/17/01 18:39:02
I, hopefully, start my first cycle before Christmas. Reading the messages from this site makes me realise that IVF is a gamble, you don't know what is going to happen. It is so helpful to have a site where you can chat to people who are going through the same emotions, friends and family are great, but it does not replace talking (you know what I mean) to someone who can really relate to what you are going through.

Our first IVF failed March 2001. I am now trying a second IVF (icsi) August 2001. I am trying to keep optimistic though at times is is very hard. I found out a few weeks ago that my younger sister is pregnant i am pleased for her, but it was so hard to keep smiling when i looked at her first scan pictures. The whole process of ivf is very stressful especially the waiting at each stage. Must keep hopeful.

This will be our 1st IVF cycle (probably the only one secondary to financials)after 2 cycles of IUI's this year. We are hoping to strike gold the first time!!! I am currently in the stim stage.....the lupron appears to be slowing things down considerably (less follicles and smaller size than w/ antagon). Best of luck to everyone!!!

2nd IVF was 8/4/01, so we are in the waiting zone. 1st IVF was in February -- got pregnant and we were elated -- but at our first ultrasound, we found our baby's heart wasn't beating. Had to induce a miscarriage. This time around I'm having trouble feeling hopeful --Instead I feel like I am just going through the motions because last time was such a painful dissapointment. Just have to wait and see.
Karen - USA - 08/08/01 11:09:27
Hi! We've done 5 cycles of IUI's before turning to IVF (new DR). We'll be starting BCP in December 2001. We're praying it works on the 1st try because Georgia doesn't have state-mandated insurance to cover infertility, everything is out of pocket, so this could be our only shot. Good luck & God Bless to all.

i have been trying for a baby for 20yrs now and have been though 3 gifts,12 ivf in the past 8yrs.my problem is that my eggs are not very good so they put me on donated embroys.I have had 3 tranfers with the 3rd one giving me a pregencey,I was over the moon, but sadly, my baby only lived for 10 weeks.I have just had another tranfer but sadly lost out.I would love to express my thoughts to couples who donate,it is a beatufull thing to do as couples like me have a second chance,I thank you.I have one more shot at it as I have no more embroys,so hoping to have it done again in October this year.I wish every one who has ivf the best and dont ever give up as i believe your turn is out there. If there is any one who would like to talk to me about it as i know i do at times, please email me on letresor63@hotmail.com.au,i would love to hear from you, thanks for your time. leanne

We are trying for the first time, our retrieval day is Sep 19, I need all the prayers I can get, I have a beautiful 17 year old girl, and had my tubes tied 14 years ago, divorced 6 years ago, and remarried a wonderful man, to make our life complete, the blessing of a little angel would be the perfect gift from God, a friend of ours went through IVF in Feb, got preg on 1st try and they are having twins, boy and girl, she told me of this web site, I wish you all the best and my prayers are with you all.

Me and my husband are trying are first IVF hopefully in October. I was pregnant and lost it at 12 weeks, I am finding out through these e-mails that the chances of getting PReg at one try is difulcult. Is it smart for us to plan on a three cycle, we have a male-infertility problem, I am 36 years old, time is going, I guess we will see.
Jamie - USA - 08/01/01 20:11:56
One fresh transfer, One frozen with medicated cycle and One frozen natural cycle. Still no pregnancy. We are wondering does this really work. We started with ten healthy great embryos and now have no more. Should we try again, is what we are wondering. Could really use some hope.

Stay strong & positive. I will be going through IVF first part of 2002. It will be my fourth time. The first time it didn't work. That was 6/99. The second IVF was 6/00 i got pregnant with triplets. I delivered at 23 weeks. I lost all three babies. (very difficult) and then I recently tried again 6/01 and got pregnant with one baby and miscarried at 4 weeks.
Coreen:
Wow, I had no idea this site was here!!! Im so happy to read all your stories, brings tears of pain and yet so much joy and love to my heart. I to am infertile due to blocked tubes...my husband and I tried for years... after many misscareages and tubel preganancies, we decided to try IVF. By the GRACE OF GOD and much work we now have a very happy smart 6 year old boy. He is the love of our life. We never dreamed it possible after so much pain and disappointment that a miracle would come our way. TO those of you going thru the IVF treatment dont give up and keep the faith, miracles happen every 2nd. :)

Your site is great! I've got a friend going through IVF (who I'm recommending this website to), and I'm starting med school at McMaster this fall. I'm really interested in becoming an OB/GYN or RE, so it's wonderful to be able to see how all of you deal with the stress and pain of infertility - and how wonderfully things are turning out for a lot of you! Best of luck to you all!!
cheryl:

Hi me and my husband will be going through the IVF treatment Aug 2 I am sooooooo happy we have wanted a baby for 6 years and then found out my tubes are blocked and there is nothing can do to unblock them so IVF is the only way I am praying hard that it works

Hi! DH & I have been married 6 1/2 years. I'm 42, he's 40. We've been ttc #1 for 5 years. As far as what we've done to get PG - Let's just say we've been there, done that. We just had a failed DE IVF cycle that looked "perfect" to our RE. It ended with a chemical PG. Our next RE visit will be to discuss immunology studies for me. Then we have 2 embies to thaw for a try at FET. The desire to become parents is so strong for us, I can't imagine that God doesn't have a plan to make it a reality. We're doing what we can, but it's been an awfully long and bumpy road. I try to remember to "pray as if it's all up to God, but behave as if it's all up to me." God bless to all…
