I am 36 years old and my husband is 40. We have a 6 year old adopted son who we love more than anything. We are about to begin IVF with donor eggs as I have been told my eggs are about 43 years old. We will probably try just once as our insurance doesn't cover anything. Then we will go adoption again if IVF fails.

I was poking around on the internet and found this site. My husband and I are in the middle of our 1st FET. Taking Lupron and Clamara patches, starting Progesterone 1/7 and hopefully transferring on 1/11. It's always great to find a website with others who are going through the same thing .. what a support group here! Another great website to check out is www.fertilethoughts.com - I had a successful IVF back in 1997 and this website (providing chatrooms & bulletin boards) was just wonderful and the girls provided much needed encouragement and support the entire treatment. Good Luck everyone and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
Carol:

Hi, I am new to this site through a recommendation. I have Endometriosis and had my falllopian tubes removed yesterday. We are going to start IVF in Jan. We are very hopeful. We also have 2 wonderful children through adoption. I am nervous of IVF and very excited. Carolyn
Jennifer:
This site has been great. I just discovered it two days before pg test at the end of the 2ww. Our first IVF cycle has failed and there were no embryos for FET. I guess we will have to figure out what next.
Michelle Williams:
I came across this website by accident during the week. After searching the web for months for something like this it was great to finally find it. I have learnt many things over the past few days and would just like to thank you for such a great site. Keep up the good work.

I love this site! It has been the most helpful real info I have seen. Went through trial transfer last week and will be starting shots in Jan. Hoping for transfer of embryo's by Feb 2,01. I am very tense. I did not think I was old until the third or forth time my RE said well your not twenty any more. I glad for that, 36 has been a good age so far. Hope all goes well and can be among the other great success stories that I have been reading here. Good luck to all, Carlene.
Janice:
Hi guys, I just had my first complete IVF cycle. I started the cycle in Sept. but was unable to do a fresh ET because I developed OHSS. I just completed a frozen ET on 12/12 and am now waiting for my pg test on scheduled for 12/22. The doctors and nurses said that the Holidays would help keep my mind off of the possible outcome. Boy, were they wrong! All I can think of is if there will be a blessing this Christmas or if I will have to pick myself off the floor and grin and bear it like I have had to do for the last 4 1/2 years.
Carla:
Hello, to all well as most of you I have just found this IVF Guestbook, Its been a big year for my husband and I we have been through 2 Ectopic Pregancies and one IVF cycle, we have 6 frozen Embro's and will try again in January 2001. I still can't get use to the whole concept of our little Embro's being frozen in time!! I only hope they make it so as we can warm them with our love. I wish all of you who are going down this same path the very best in the year 2001, its not easy but there are lots of us out there and the support is great lots of Love, Luck and Happness to all and their families.
Joe-ann:
Hi. Just found this site and am so happy I did. My husband and I are waiting for our call from the clinic to say when we start our fist IVF treatment. The waiting has been hard on us. I think once we get the call there'll be light at the end of the tunnel. It's so good to hear from others with similar experiences and feelings. At first I felt so alone and now I know I'm not. Thanks for all of your personal stories and God bless ALL of us!!!!!!
Jayne:
Hi everybody. I just had my first failed IVF. We are hoping to be able to afford another one by summer.

Hi everyone! This is such a great site! I found this by accident just looking for information on the web and I am so glad that I did. I am 33 years old and this is my first IVF cycle so I am not sure what to expect. I have two children, ages 14 and 9 both conceived with fertility drugs over a long period of time, however, we never had to go as far as IVF. I am really excited that we are trying again after so long! This site and the buddy list has helped me so much! All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. I look forward to talking to many of you over the coming months.
Brenda:
Hi everyone! I just found this site a couple months ago and think it is a wonderful site! My husband and I start the IVF Cycle December 28th. I feel very fortunate that I found the email group for IVF.
Edith-Marie:
Hi! I'm planning my third IVF and I hope this one could be the one! I had two ectopic pregnancies and after that two negative IVF. My last IVF was three years ago, and now my husband and I are very possitive with this one. I found this web site and I like it a lot. Only the infertile couples Knows how it feels to be infertile so this will be my favorite site from now on...
rebecca:
hi everyone. I am about to start with the IVF process. I am scared and excited at the sametime. I work with a lady who had gone to the same doc as I am using. She is a success story so that makes me feel good and that there is hope. any suggestion would be wonderful. all my nerves are shot. please be thinking of me and wish me best of luck for a positive result
Shari:
Hi, thanks for the info on this site. I just has the embryo transfer on 12/5 and will get my pg test on the 15th. I'm so excited. This is our first (and only) attempt with IVF, after losing both fallopian tubes to ectopic pregnancy. I'm 33, my husband is 37 and we have one son, Shane (4), who came all on his own between two ectopics. He's our miracle boy! My doctor here in AZ transferred 3 embryos and gave me 68% chance for pregnancy, 30% of which could be twins. I'm believing that God is going to make this all work for us. Thanks for listening. Good luck with your transfer.
Deanna:
Hi ... I am now 28 and my husband 31. We went through IVF (unsuccessful) in March 1999 after six years of trying for a child. We had tried Clomid before, however I am very prone to cysts and Clomid did not help. I lost one ovary from a cyst removal surgery and also underwent a Tuboplasty (not quite sure of spelling). After the tuboplasty, I was told that one of my tubes was now moving very freely but it was the tube on the side that I had no ovary!! (More good luck!) When we finally opted for IVF, we were so very excited, however the procedure didn't go well for us from the beginning ... I was late before I could start taking my fertility needles, when I finally did we found that I needed to increase the amount. My eggs were slow developing and (of course) there were cysts. Forward we went ... only three eggs were retrieved and only one fertilized (slowly). We believed one was all it took - ours didn't take. It was the most devastating thing ever - I still am not prepared to go through the IVF again any time soon. I would like to commend all of you who are trying your second, third, fourth (etc.) time. My sister has always told me that she would carry a baby for me - she gave birth to a beautiful little girl two years ago - lately I've been giving this a lot of consideration as an option for us. Is there anyone out there who can offer some insight on surragacy involving someone you know? Good luck to all of you! Deanna
Julissa Leon :
Hi there. I have to agree that this is a very informative site. I am 31, my husband's name is Ricardo. We have been married for a year and 4 months. We have been trying to get pregnant from the first day we got married. Nothing has happened. I am blessed with 2 son, ages 10 and 7, from my previous marriage. We are categorized a secondary infertility, due to the fact that we have had children in the past. However, my husband's daughter was killed in a car accident when she was 6 years old. After several test, it was indicated to us that my husbands sperm count and motility was very low causing us difficultly getting pregnant. Our Dr. suggested we go under IVF treatment. Well - we are. I am both scared and excited. However, my biggest fear is to get heart broken. At this point and time I am waiting for my period to start. I then call the Dr.'s office so that they can advise me and tell me when I need to start my pills, (Desogen). If all goes well, I should be pregnant by Feb 01. My prayers to all.
Natasha:
I just want to say that it is a wonderful site. I was diagnosted with a cancer when I was a baby, and after surgery and radiation, my ovaries didn't want to function. So here I am, trying to find out how I could have kids. I can't believe the support and the information we can get here. I am sure that this web site will help a lot us to cope with our condition. I wish good luck to all of you!!

This is an incredible site for informations. My husband and I have been married 9 years this month and have been trying to have a baby for the past 7 or so. I've done at least 6 years off and on with clomid with no success. I did the Basil body temp etc. No doctor could tell us why we were unable to get pregnant. Dateline had a story on PCOS and my husband was conviced I had this and we both spoke to my OB/GYN. He assured us he did research and I did not have this. I finally took advice from a friend and went to a Center for Reproductive Medicine and Endocrynology. Within the first 5 minutes of our consoltation the Dr. looked at test my old Dr. had done and said you have PCOS. Showed us some test results the other Docotor had ran and explained this all to us. I was so mad and yet relived at the same time. We started in May of 2000 and we have had 2 failed IUI's. In September we did our first IVF cycle. 30 eggs were retrieved and 7 vertilized. We had 4 transferred in September and found out on Sept. 30 that we were pregnant. We we in such shock we told all our immediate family and close friends. Unfortunately after the 3rd HCG test they were a bit concered my HCG numbers were not as high as they should be. On October 13th we found out the HCG numbers were going down, which meant I would miscarry which I did. It was the hardest most depressing thing we have ever had to go through. I did not speak to anyone for a few weeks. I thought I was ready to go back to work and all I could do was cry in sadness for my loss. Everyone trys to say things like: "something was not right with it," etc. Nothing anyone says helps. I kept blaming myself but my husband was so wonderful to assure me we did nothing wrong. He was also the strong one who called and informed everyone of our loss. After going for an ultrasound to verify the miscarrage all I could do was cry it was horrible. After meeting with the doctor he was very positive and encouraged us to try again. We are supposed to start at FET cyle this month Dec. 2000. Waiting for AF, had to take provera since AF was not coming on her own. We have 3 frozen embryos left and could use all the prayers and encouragement from everyone for this cycle to work. I know how painful going through infertility is and that when none of your friends and family have a clue of what you are going through it's almost better to communicate with strangers who understand how you feel and are going through similar things. We are not telling anyone about the FET cycle, only a had full of people know we did IVF, and they have asked if we were going to try again, and our answer has been probably :) My heart and prayers go out to everyone who is going through Infertility.
Kelly S:
Hi, my husband & I recently went through IVF due to my husband having a severe case of diabeties. I produced 11 eggs but after having the eggs removed I fell very ill with hyperstimulation and was hospitalized for 6 days. Only 2 of my eggs fertalised and though I went through with the embroyo transfer they didn't take. I have suffered depression over this and wondered if anyone else has suffered the effects of hyperstimulation and would love to hear from them. Good luck to everybody.
Audrey :
I have been looking for solace ever since our dr deemed us with "Unexplained Infertility" this November. He suggested that we do IVF after having 3 IUI's + clomid cycles. My ddh and I have been together for 12 yrs/married 3yrs and we would love desperately to start a family. We are planning to have IVF in March 2001 - once the money has been saved. I am so happy to have found a support system- I hope that those women who have already been through IVF can share their experiences to help prepare me physically, psycologically and emotionally for this journey. I hope to hear from you guys soon. Take Care and Good luck to all of you. Hugs ODD

Hi everyone, I am just about to start my 2nd IVF cycle in a few days, the first resulted in my 6 month old son!!! We are trying for one more :) Good luck and God's help for all of you trying to conceive.

Hi I'm 27 and my husband and I have been ttc for almost 3 years. We finally found a wonderful Reproductive Endocrinologist and are in our first cycle of IVF. It has been an emotional rollercoaster, but this type of support from all of these women in similar situations has been fantastic. Yesterday I went for retrieval and had 21 eggs! We hope and pray that all goes well as we would like a family of our own more than anything else in the world. From here on out it is just sit and wait for daily reports. Thank you all and I wish all of you the best of luck.
Loretta, Frederick,Maryland:
I've just completed my day5 transfer with 2 blastocyst, I am 28,my husband 34/ we have gone through the steps for almost a year now and now in the IVF step hoping this will work. I was success with the injections on their own for the the second step w/out clomid and then ended up in a car accident resulting in a sad ending, but mine and my husbands hope and prays are still high and know that the best is yet to become. I wish everyone the best of luck and most imporantly patiences on both partners'ends.

Natasha :
Hi, my husband (34) and I (27) are considering doing the IVF for the first time hopefully in the summer of 2001. I have had 2 daughters from a previous marriage, but thinking all would last had my tubes done. I was happy to see that there was a way around this as my new husband and I would very much like to have a child together. Many of your listings here have been very helpful and I can only hope that you all have great success and luck in obtaining the children you so desire. I couldn't imagine one day in my life without my daughters. The admiration I feel for alot of you has only made my hope seem all to real now, and you have helped make us feel that ours to will become a success. Good luck to you all and may your lives be filled with happiness regardless of the outcome.
Denise:
I am 32 years old. My husband and I have been trying for 2 years to become pregnant. With no success, we underwent our respective exams to determine why. It turns out, both my tubes are blocked. One is completely blocked, the other mostly blocked. We have decided to go the IVF route. We have just begun to look for a IVF Doctor who is reputable and who has a high sucess rate. Can you suggest any? We live in NYC.
Carolyn:
Hi! Just found your website as I was attempting to locate some encouragement from someone out there with a similar situation. I am 43 years old and have had 2 miscarriages they feel were due to my eggs. My husband and I are now attempting to fo through IVF using donor eggs. I have just started my Lupron 3 days ago, so I have almost a month before the implant. Please pray for me and thanks for your support.

Hello everyone. This site is wonderful, sometimes I feel like I am the only one going through all of these emotions, most of my firends and family have had little to no trouble in conception/delivery. I am amazed to read all of your notes and feel like people truly understand. 12 years and two months of infertility, 3 IUIs, 1 ISCI IVF and 1 very recent FET have taken their toll on my spirit. The FET looks like it may have worked, but my HCG levels didn't increase very much from the first test to the second - I test again on Monday and am hoping for a big fat number! I wish you all the best of luck and strength to get through the rollercoaster ride to healthy pregnancies and deliveries!!!
Heidi:
Hi, Just looking, hoping and praying. Am looking for another sourse of payment for IVF, other than my savings. Does anyone have info. on loans for people that need them? I would appreciate it. I have put off IVF for the last 9 yrs hoping to get the monies together and am getting older and feel it. Thanks for letting me vent. Hope to hear from some of you soon. G0D bless each and everyone of you and may your dreams come true!

Hello to all I am 25 with a wonderful daughter whom my hubby and I concieved naturally 2 1/2 years ago. Due to a rough pregnancy we decided that my DH would have a vasectomy. Now, I am just aching for another child (or two) and my husband is willing to do in vetro. We have an appointment early Dec to get this ball rolling and are so nervous and unsure about...everything. It helps so much to be able to read stories and hear insights to this procedure. I pray for all of you that your dreams of becoming parents come true. I am very lucky, I know, for having a beautiful little angel already. Please know that I am so gratefull for all of you that are talking about your experiences, good and not so good. You all have answered so many questions and have provoked so many emotional conversations between myself and my husband. Thank you so much! God Bless you all!!

I live in Ireland and don't seem to be able to connect to any sites here. This is my first IVF atempt and we are paciently waiting for Thursday and the results of a HPT. I've had some complications with the treatment that has made me very anxious and despratly need to talk to someone who understands what I'm going trough. I was so pleased when I find this site and after reading Brenda's story I cried nonstop for several hours. I could relate to her story so much. In my heart I feel that this is going to fail put I live in hope as I have not as yet had a visit from AF. I hope I can join the chatrooms tomorrow and hope to be able to tell my story. I feel like I will burst if I don't talk about it.

Sonie Sankey:
My hubby & I are one of the success stories now but for 3 years and 5 ICSI attempts we were not. To all experiencing problems with pregnancy; keep your Mind & your Body & your Relationship healthy and hopefully your dreams will come true. Ours did! QFG Brisbane helped us to finally conceive our daughter now 30 months old. She is now driving us nuts and still we are now considering going back to a FET once I feel I can cope with all the stress and the feelings that go with the whole process. Good Luck to you all!
TracyG:
What a great outlet this is! I'm 33 years old my dh is 38. We are experiencing secondary infertility - we have a dd who is 3 years old. We have tried 2 IVF cycles with no success. In a couple weeks we will be trying FET. With our second IVF try we were given by our RE a 70% chance of it working with a transfer of 2 blastocysts. Now, with FET and the chance of preg going down I'm so nervous. It's so hard to take another disappointment.

I JUST WENT THROUGH MY FIRST IVF NOV.1ST AND WE WON'T GET THE RESULTS UNTIL SAT 18th. THE WAITING IS KILLING US. I'M FEELING SOME THINGS LIKE MY STOMACH FEELS HEAVY AT THE END OF THE DAY AND IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE TO SUCK IN MY STOMACH AND I HAVE HAD SOME CRAMPING?!? OF COURSE WHEN YOUR WAITING ANXIOUSLY, EVERY LITTLE THING COULD BE A SYMPTOM. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 4YRS 8MTHS AND WE WANT THIS SO BAD. I PRAY FOR US EVERYDAY SINCE THE TRANSFER AND AFTER READING ALL OF THESE STORIES I'LL BE PRAYING FOR EVERYONE HAVING TO GO THROUGH THIS. WE ARE THINKING POSITIVE SO YOU ALL KEEP GOOD POSITIVE THOUGHTS AS WELL AND IT WILL HAPPEN. TAKE CARE AND BEST OF LUCK. RACHELLE

We were supposed to do it the end of this month, but she has finals and cannot do it until just before Christmas. This has been a very long road and I just have to keep the faith.

I am 43 yrs. old and married to the most wonderful man for 9 yrs. He has no children of his own(I have three grown children and 7 grandchildren). "We" have had numerious surgeries to try to correct my secondary infertility. We have, after much consideration, decided to persue invetro as our final option. At present I am taking estrace for my last test before getting started with invetro. I am very optimistic. Throughout this process I often find myself feeling very much alone; how wonderful to have found such an encouraging place to visit. Our Dr. suggested a book for us to read entitled,"Choosing Assisted Reproduction" by Susan Lewis Cooper and Ellen Sarasohn Glazer. It's a wonderfully informative book! Prayers for all of us that God would grant us the desire of our heart.

Well, I have a 15yr. old daughter, have a husband of 6yrs., he has no children, but did adopt my daughter, but anyways have been trying to get pregnat for 5yrs. husband had surgery 1 1/2 yrs. ago for low sperm count, went on clomid for 6mts and no luck, had hsg in april 2000, said my tubes were blocked so then on oct 13, 2000 had laparoscopy and after that said that my tubes were in really bad shape so refered us to a ivf clinic. so this is were we are at and I have been really blue, but I found this site and know there are others out there with the same dream, I do know that I should be happy with the one child I have but I would love to give my husband a child. my one docter did say you do have one child and you are 35 so be happy because I deal with people that have no children. But I still hae that dream and I am going to go as far as I can go, I meat with my new dr. Dec.1 2000 I pray for all of us to reach are dream the sky has no limit....... H.T.A.
Stacy:
Thanks IVF Connections. I have been visiting the site for the last few days. I am on my first IVF cycle - taking lupron now and begin follistim/repronex on the 29th. I find the site to be informative and supportive. Thank you!
Robin:
I was told about this website & have been visiting it frequently since my first IVF cycle which started in March. Today I found out the results of our 2nd cycle, another failure, and hope to start our third cycle soon! Has anyone become pregnant on the first or second cycle? From what I have read, a lot of people are on their third cycle. I hope what they say is true, three is a charm so hopefully we all will become pregnant this time!!! When my husband & I first started IVF, they made it sound like we had great chances of becoming pregnant on our first try because we are so young and healthy but man were they wrong - two strikes so far. I am 26 and my husband is 32. I keep thinking it is me that is doing something wrong. Do any of you ever wonder if the cycles haven't worked because of something you did? Do any of you go to Brigham & Women's in Boston, MA? If so, any good or bad advice you can give me about them would be wonderful!!! I have you all in my thoughts & prays and wish you all pregnant! GOOD LUCK!!!!
Sandra:
Hi everyone, I live in England and have been trying to have a baby practically since we got married 4 years ago. I knew something may have been wrong but was shocked to hear I had PCOS. At the time I thought thats it until we began going down the long and arduous infertility road. After umpteen blood tests, HSG, scan after scan and 1,000's of pokings and proddings we were started on clomid for 6 months and then I fell pregnant on the 6th month only to miscarry some weeks later. On the day I did a pregnancy test I was transferred to a specialist fertility clinic where a scan was done and told that I needed to have a 6cm fibroid removed but in the meantime they would do IUI. I had 2 months of IUI to no avail and decided to forget it all and go to Australia for a 5 week holiday and when I come back have the operation to remove the fibroid. Over the holiday I thought about the fibroid and decided I would get a second opinion as I really did not want someone fiddling around down there. The second opinion confirmed my fears and I cancelled the operation and went straight for IVF. The fibroid was not affecting me not getting pregnant. The IVF process went quite quickly and before I knew it I was pregnant but my BETA levels were low and at the 6 weeks scan they couldn't find anything in the uterus. I was rushed into hospital where a laparoscopy was done only to find no baby. For two weeks I stayed in hospital while they tried to find my baby - my levels were rising but they couldn't find it and then it appeared on the scan but was not growing to the right size. It was not until 3 1/2 weeks later I miscarried. All that effort for nothing. Well you all know how that feels - I just started my 2nd IVF but was cancelled halfway through and doing a run over which means I am still on the 2nd and just started AF. So heres hoping it will happen this time. Heres hoping all our dreams will come true soon. This is a great website and its wonderful to share all these stories with each other. Sandra
Justine:
Hi! I am new at this site. My husband and I have been through years of ups and downs. We were dating when my first cancer was found, ovarian, in 1989. Since then, I have had over 15 surgeries to remove tumors. We started IVF in 1998, but they found Leukemia, my 3rd form of cancer. We were told then that we would never have the option again because that type of chemo would kill the only small portion of my ovary that I have left. Needless to say, God answered prayers, and my partial ovary started to function again. My husband and I are so excited to be able to complete the IVF cycle. The opportunity was robbed from us when I had to undergo extensive chemo in 1998. Our first complete cycle failed in August, 2000. We were ready to complete a 2nd cycle in October, but all my follicles (11) ruptured the morning of the retrieval. Now, I am awaiting to hear if the doctor wants to pursue a 3rd try. My husband and I know that we are blessed with life. We have no children. We knew getting married that there would be a rare possibility. We are thankful for the extended life God has given us. We know He has a plan for us. It is our hope and prayer that we would have a successful 3rd try. We would appreciate any prayers. I whole heartedly believe in the power of prayer. I will be praying for all these wonderful people in this site. Thank you.

Hi, I am on my second try for IVF. Just got a transfer of 3 embroys, but I am feeling very blotted and discomfort. According to my doctor, is because of the fluid when retriveing the eggs. Can anyone help me by giving some advice on yr experience. Thks in advance.
Jessica:
I am on my 3rd IVF. The first was successful, but I miscarried. The second didn't work and I will find out next Thursday if I am pregnant. I am looking for people who have been successful with IVF after a few tries.
Emerald:
I am 39, my husband 34. We have only been trying to conceive 1 year, had 2 miscarriages. Dr. suggested IVF. We have no children. Scared, worried, expensive, confusing, adoption instead? Hope to have my questions answered.
Laura:
I am starting my third IVF cycle. The first was successful, the second failed. I was going to wait until Spring to try again, but my RE suggested that I not wait. Here I go again.
Cindy:
Hi. This is my 2nd time on this site, it really is great. I was a bit scared about what I have gone through but my husband said I should get this off my chest. We have had 4 ectopic p/g,both tubes have been removed. We have also started the adoption process but I think I want to expreience all the joy of going through a pregnancy. I'll be seeing my Dr.tomorrow and asking about all the different clinics in and around Toronto. If any one has been to a clinic that they really like please e-mail me. Good luck to all of you out there. God Bless. Cindy

Hello everyone. I am 35 and we have been trying for 2 yrs. We went through 1yr of clomid treatment and then was told we have to move on to IVF/ICSI. The first treatment did not work.. we were devastated.. we have 6 embryos frozen. So we picked ourselves up and we are going to try FET. There is a great book out there called "A Gentle Thunder" Max Lucado... if anyone needs encouragement ... read it. Good luck to all of you and thanks for all your uplifting stories of courage and strength. I will pray for all of you... ;)
Julia (England):
Third attempt at IVF using ICSI, fell pregnant on other two occasions but never lasted longer than a couple of weeks. Am now in that dreaded 'waiting game' period. Was very lucky this time as had 11 Grade 'A' embryos. Have used two and frozen other 9 for use at a later date. Would love to hear from anyone who needs any morale support or information that I can assist with. Luv to everyone out there, never give up!! - Julia

Debbie :
I had a Laparoscopy last year to clean out my tubes, needless to say they only cleaned one, and I stll have not gotten pregnant. I am 31 and we are going to have IVF as soon as we can afford to. I am hoping it will be within the next few months. I really would like some feedback about what they do and how eveyrone is coping. I can not stand to think about never having a baby.
debbie:
we are going to be going through ivf soon.does anyone have any advice?
Chris goode:

Joy (Australia):
Hi Last night I must have spent hours reading everyones letters and stories. I am so inspired. My husband (is that DH or does everyones husband's have the same initials, ha, ha) and I have been trying to have a baby for four years now. We are about to have an egg collection on Monday for our 2nd attempt at ivf/icsi.Early last year we had our first ivf and then 2 FET (i hope thats correct) all were unsuccessful and of course devestating. It has taken me all this time to want to try again, of course hoping in the meantime that we'd fall pregnant naturally. Our infertility is largely unexplained, however it may be my husbands sperm are unable to penetrate the egg's shells. I have just found out from our scan 2 days ago that we have 12 good size eggs on the way however we also found an endometrial polyp. Our gyno gave us the option to stop this months treatment, but I just couldn't. I would love to hear from anyone who has been in this situation. Our egg pick up is on Monday and I just hope and pray that we end up with some lovely embryos. My girlfriend stayed in bed for three days after her transfer and now has two gorgeous twin boys. I have taken next week off work to do the same. My gyno doesn't think this makes any difference but any little bit can help, right? My tears and thoughts and hopes are with everyone who has so bravely and kindly shared their dreams, disappointments and successes on this fantastic site.
Saskia:
I am 24 years and from Belgium. After having had my second ectopic pregnancy in one year (I've been operated two weeks ago) and having lost, due to that, both my fallopian tubes, I am now down to IVF as the only way to have children of my own. I must say that I am very scared about what is to come. My husband wants to wait another year before starting the procedure but I am very nervous to know all about it. I'm happy to have bumped on this site where I can find some more information. Good luck to all of you who already have started the procedure!!
Nerissa:
Hello ladies, we have been trying for almost 2 years. I'm 28yrs old and we've already been through 1 miscarriage and an etopic pregnancy. We started the IVF program last saturday. I glad that I found this website, I feel like I can never get enough information.
Felicity (Australia):
I am doing an assignment on IVF for school and just wanted to congratulate you all on the courage and determination you all show. Best of luck to each and every one of you.
Nichole:
I am just starting the IVF process and I just found out about this website. Hopefully it will help me along the way knowing we are all going through the same thing. Look forward to chatting with you.
Janice:
I finally found a web site that not only has all the technical data you need but is very good for support. We have been trying for almost 5 years. We have been through 3 IUI cycles and just started an IVF cycle. The retrieval went well (16 embryos)however I developed OHSS and need to wait to do the transfer. They told me that FET is just as effective. Still need to play the waiting game.
Mary:
My husband and I have been trying to concieve for about 3 years now, which I know is not as long as some of you. We've tried 8 cycles of Clomid, Follistim with IUI for three months, and a lot on our own with no success. We were looking into adoption but after feeling like I was on trial from all of the questions on the forms, we decided to give IVF a shot. We are just beginning this quest and I am hoping it will come out with a positive ending. :)
Rozzanne:
My name is Rozzanne, and I am 36 years old. For 12 years I have been trying to conceive. After a long wait myself and my partner decided to embark on IVF. During this time, all the necessary blood test had to be done. One faithful morning, I called my GP to find out the results of the test and alas there was the bomb shell, my FSH was high indicating menopause. My real problem started on the day. This was early 1996. Since then I have been on the queue for donors and all proved abortive. Anyway to save you the stress of reading on, we have at last gotten a donor and we are now going through the process of IVF. Please wish me luck and I will need more stories on women who used donated eggs.
Suzanne:
Hey everyone. We are trying this again. We have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years and are in the middle of our second IVF. Maybe this will be the one. We have found a new doctor who is absolutely incredible. I live in Montgomery, AL, but am going out to a doctor in Las Vegas because he is supposed to be one of the best in the world. He also helps with the financial part - which is great because our insurance hasn't covered anything in 2 years. Hope things go well for everyone this cycle.
Jane:
Hi! I'm 37 and just finished 3 unsuccessful IUI's - totally unexplained. I'm thinking IVF is the next step, but am worried it won't work either. Very frustrated and looking for answers. It really helps knowing there are others out there struggling with the same things we are.
Nancy:
I am always on the net searching for new things about ivf. A year ago I was suppose to go through ivf and did not, now i regret it. It was partially cover by my insurance but now is not. So now I want to learn what has change since my last attempt. And to see how to pay for it.
Anne Hudson:
I am 32 years old and just finished my 1st IVF cycle. I am currently waiting for first beta results. I am so glad that I found your site. If for any reason my cycle is a negative I now know where I can go for support from people who have been and are where I am.
Mia:
Hi :) I'm on my 3rd IVF cycle. I'm just waiting around for the next 2 weeks hoping. Thanks to this website something is keeping me from going crazy, I really can't share this with anybody because nobody knows. I talk to my husband who is very very supportive but I like to hear from other women going through the same things. thankyou for being around
Bev:
My husband and I are "retreads" and I have 2 from my 1st and he has 1. Unfortunately I thought I would be married forever and had my tubes tied. Will be starting early next year and only have 3 chances at insurance company expense so that will be it. I am hoping that 3 will do it but am reading some of these stories of couples who have had multiple attempts. I don't know if I could handle the disappointment. I guess I should feel lucky for the 3 we have. Good luck to everyone out there-they are truly worth every lost hour of sleep and every gray hair (but don't tell them I said that!!)
Kim:
HI, wow great website. we have been trying for 18 months to get p/g with no luck. finally went to fertility clinic 2 weeks ago. low sperm count, more tests and then probably onto ivf it's great to have all your stories to read about for support - best wishes to you all :)
Lucia M.:
I just had my eggs taken out yesterday and today wait for news about how many are fertilized and then we take it from there, I guess. I am nerveous, excited and trying hard not to think that it is a sure thing. This is our first cycle of IVF
patty:
I have PCOS and my husband and I have been going through the different stages of trying to get pregnant and we are now to IVF. I am waiting for my cycle to start so I can do the clomid challenge ad then start the lupron. this is a good souce of information regarding ivf. thanks
Jennifer:
The day I found this website I was only two days away from starting my shots. Within 24 hours I had answers to lots of questions the Dr didn't tell me. I feel so lucky to have found this site at the time I did. Tomorrow morning is my first Lupron shot and I feel so much better already. I found out very quickly my friends did not have any idea what I was going through. My new friends on this site are going through it with me and you will never understand the comfort that gives me.
Wendi S.:
This is the most informative IVF sight I have been able to find. It seems to have answers to questions that I have and noone else seems to be able to answer. Words can not express how thrilled I am to have found this sight! Please, Please keep up the great work.
JULIE LANGFORD:
Finally something really interesting on the internet. To all of you starting ivf for the first time before you start tell everyone what you are about to do. You family and friends will be a great support for you , the more people you tell the better. They will be there if things don't work for you and the will be there when it dose and what a fus they will make of you. Don't let anyone tell you to keep it to your self you will be amazed at the type of people wishing you the best, even the lady behind the counter at the local shop will be praying for you. So don't forget to tell the world.

Our first IVF try is coming up in Nov. and I just turned 40. We've been married for 13yrs. with one tubal pregnancy so we are praying for a miracle on the first time around like everyone else on this site.
Christine:
The BEST site yet!! Currently going thru my 1st IVF cycle. What better way to stay calm and sane than to read others stories....
Marzia:
Scrivero' in italiano per lasciare il mio segno. Sono alla fine del mio secondo tentativo di ivf e su questo sito ho trovato la comprensione e il supporto che nessun'altro e' stato capace di offrirmi, inclusa la mia famiglia. Siete grandi!!
:
We have embarked on our one and only treatment which is payed for by the NHS. (We are in the UK.) We have decided not to try and afford another cycle and if we meet with failure then I shall have to channel my love and creativity in other directions. I wish you all the best of luck.
Toni Jenkins:
Hi Everyone, Yesterday we went through the Egg Retrieval and this Friday, they will implant. I'm scared to death this won't work. My husband and I already have a beautifule 2 1/2 year old daughter that is the joy of our lives. But we wanted to give her a sibling to share and enjoy their childhood together. I'm 39 years old and we conceived our daughter naturally when everyone (including doctors said it wouldn't happen). We've been ready to have another for the last 1 1/2 but it just isn't happening and I'm getting nervous with my age. thank you for having a web site that addresses all our fears and a forum to voice them.
Jen:
Wonderful site. It made me tearful both from fear of our upcoming first attempt at IVF and from joy for all the strong women out there. It has been a long 4 years since we lost our first pregnancy (ectopic)& learned both tubes were blocked, but we have finally been blessed financially where we can try IVF. Our consult is tonight (9/19/00) and reading this site has already eased some of my fears. Best of luck for all the women dedicated to bringing life into this world no matter what the personal sacrifices we all must make.
Ally:
I would first like to convey my deep appreciation to the creators of this site. Being a Webmaster myself, I know how much time and dedication it takes to build, and maintain a site. God bless you, and help you to continue in all your endeavors. This site is a great support, women with fertility problem, need constant support, and this is the best way to share our feelings, and ask questions and recieve the caring responses that we do. Good luck to everyone, keep trying, have faith, and be optimistic always!
:
Danielle:
My husband and I have been on this roller coaster too.... for 4 1/2 years. I feel we wasted a lot of time because the Dr.'s thought we were so young! We have had a variety of treatment and are about 1/2 way through our first IVF attempt. (with a wonderful clinic!) We are feeling excited for a possible pregnancy and scared our of our wits of another dissapointment. Sure keeps life interesting..... to say the least! To everyone living life as we are.... good luck to you and may all your hopes and dreams come true!
Lorie:
I am so happy to have found this site and to know that my husband and I are not alone in this journey. We would like to start the ivf now but financially we are unable. If anyone has any information on the financial aspect of ivf in Canada, we would greatly appreciate it.
Chris goode:
Thanks to everyone who sent me information on IVF. I think i might undertake this program
Jill:
I am 29 and my husband is 27, we both bring infertility problems with us. We have our first appointment with the IVF doctor tomorrow, 9/11/00. We are looking to start our first cycle in November. I'm happy to see that there are success stories out there. The whole thing is so confusing. We have had friends and family asking all of these questions that I don't even know how to answer. This site has helped us greatly.I am active duty military I would like any responses back from anyone who has had to go through the IVF cycles while trying to deal with all the military presures. God bess you all and the best of luck for your pursuit of parenthood!

Great web site! It's hard to find info on the net if you don't know the address. Just happened to read Homemakers magazine and here all these addresses were. Very informative. What I would like is someone to tell me about the ivf clinics in the Toronto area. I've been to the CARE clinic in Mississagua but they closed. I'm thinking about the ISIS clinic in Mississauga as well. Has anyone been there? We're planning an IVF cycle in one month so I'd like some feed back on the clinic please.I'd also like to wish all the couples who's stories I've read well wishes and lots of luck.Michelle

I think this site is wonderful. It's nice to read everyone's success stories and to find people in the same situation as myself (unfortunately). I feel that everyone on here is a friend. Godd luck to all!
Barbara:
I just found this website and am eager to read all the comments and experiences. I am in the middle of my first IVF treatment and desperately feel the need to find someone to eplain to me what is happening. After about 2 years of trying to get pregnant naturally and 2 IUIs, my husband & I decided to try IVF. I just had my retrieval yesterday and am eagerly awaiting the update on the eggs. They were able to retrieve 7 eggs and today we found out that 4 fertilized (1 good, 2 average and 1 poor). What does that mean average? Does that mean they will use them? I'm so confused and am just looking for someone to talk to to get the straight story.
LS:
Hi,I think this website is great!! Is nice to read about succesful stories knowing that you maybe the next one. I have had 4 IUIs and I just finished my 1st IVF. My retrieval date was on 7/26/2000 and I had 17 eggs (I only have my right ovary), and the next day my Doctor called with more great news 15 of them fertilized. Everyday she gave me an update how my embryos were doing. I had 8 (8cell) and 3 (6 cell) by day 3. She decided to wait for them to blast. So, transfer was schedule for 7/31. We didn’t know how many she was going to transfer until that day. She decided to transfer 4 Blasts (2 "good quality" and 2 "not so good"). Great chances for a p…. Well, the 2-week waiting period went so slow, but I went back on 8/14 for my p/t test. The Doctor and the nurses were very optimistic because two of those embryos looked “very good” unfortunately my test came out negative and two days later I got my period (8/16). We will probably start our FET ("only" have 3) as soon as we are emotionally ready. Hopefully this time we have a different outcome. Thanks for sharing all your stories.
Susan:
What a wonderful website! God Bless all of you and thank you for sharing your stories. It's always comforting to know there are other women in the world who know exactly what I'm going through, all the emotions too. We're on our 2nd IVF cycle, the first one was unsuccessful. Good luck to all of you! Hang in there!
Lek (Australia):
Just found this site and I tinks it will help heaps! Just started our second stimulated cycle and hopefully doing GIFT End Aug 2000. My first cycle was cancelled as didn't produce enough eggs. It's Great knowing other people are going through the same thing at the same time.
Debbie (UK):
After 6 yrs of ttc (unexplained) & 4 IUI's, we have been lucky with our 3rd IVF. I am 8 wks & 3 days pg with twins! I still don't think it's really sunk in yet.Never, never give up hope - that's all we have.
nancy:
What a wonderful site!!! We have gone through 8IUI's and 2IVF cycles and we are in week 2 waiting after the FET. Just 4 more days till the pregnancy test. It's so encouraging to read everyone's journeys. I've been cramping and thinking for sure I am not pregnant but have some hope reading everyone elses stories. We'll keep our fingers, and everything else crossed!
Marion:
I hope i bring hope for everyone out there i am now 22+5 weeks pregnant, iv`e never got this far before ,iv`e had 5 ivf attempts and 4 frozen embro replacements , ive had 4 misscarrages ,this was my last affordable go and here i am 22+5 weeks on still pregnant its amazing thanks to my frozen embro`s, so it`s not just fresh ivf that works if you`ve` got any in the freezer i strongly suggest you use them as all my pregnances have been through frozen embro`s. i was always lead to belive that frozen embro repacement was an extenshion to IVF but not any more . ......good luck to anyone out there going through this emotional roller coaster ......think positive and one day you will be rewarded.
JOAN:
Hi Concieved my son through IUI. Trying for a second .Have been told husbands count is low will be doing IVF. A little scared!!!! Any body out there to talk Please emailGreat site
Alanna:
I am in the 2ww of my third IVF attempt. My 6 year old daughter was conceived naturally on the first attempt. Two years later, dh was diagnosed with low sperm count. Despite the emotional and physical strain of IVF, I can say that in a sense, I have been blessed with infertility because it has made me a better parent and more appreciative human being.
Carla (Australia):
I am researching IVF at school and am amazed by all of your courage that I've found in all of those who have attempted to used IVF in the past. Good luck to you all and I wish you and your new family all the best.
Ann:
I'm 25 and dh is 28. We have been trying for 2 and half years. I have severe endometriosis. We are considering IVF in the very near future.
Laura:
I found this web site very helpful. It's comforting to know there are people out there who understand what I 'm feeling. I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure at nineteen. After three failed adoptions, my husband and I are currently on a waiting list for donor eggs....
Inez and Jan:
It has been a big help finding this site! My husband and I juste completed our first cycle of IVF which resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. It was devastating news, but knowing we will be able to start our second attempt gives us something to reach for. It is comforting to read about your stories. I know I'm not going through this alone.
Helen (South Africa):
Thank you for a great site. We are in the 2 week wait. Really appreciated the q&a on this time. Nobody tells you what you might be experiencing so when you feel the slightest twinge you think it is over and it may not be.
Cristin:
My husband and I are both 30 yrs.old and have been trying to conceive for almost 2 years. We will be doing our first IVF end of August.Best of luck to all of you, keep the faith!
Jennifer:
I am 25 years old, and my husband is 27. We will be going through with IVF in March of 2001(hopefully). My both tubes are blocked. I would like for someone to email me about the procedure. If it is really bad taking all of the injections. I really am glad to have found this website. Thanks, Jenn
Helen & Danny:
We think the web page is fantastic,we have now had two IVF attempts and found the 1st time was the hardest as we were on treatment for 6 months with different problems everytime we went to the hospital,2nd time went much better. But after reading peoples stories we know there is hope, which gives us all the reason to carry on.We are from England, and we would love people to email us.
Lyndsey:
It is so relieving to see so many other couples in our situation. We had our first IVF attempt in April, in which they collected 14 eggs, we donated 7, kept 7. Only 3 fertilised, but that was sufficient as I fell pregnant, however when we went for the 6 week scan, the baby had stopped growing about a week earlier. I/We felt devestated, but yesterday (9/8/00) started on our 2nd attempt. Fingers crossed this time will be better and good luck to everybody else....
Dawn:
Great site. Starting first ivf cycle in august 2000.
Barbara:
Hello everyone! I am 42 and will start my 1st IVF next month. We tried IUI twice, but no good. It is hard to come to terms with not being able to get pregnant when you want to (I think about all those times I lived in fear that I was pregnant ...). It is good to read the thoughts of so many people going through all this too. Thank you for taking the time to reach out. It means a great deal to me.
Carolyn:
My story sounds so much like others. We are doing 1st IVF in the next few weeks and I was home and was just playing around on the net. Lo and behold, hundreds of other couples who are all doing, feeling, hoping for the same thing. And all this time I thought I was alone........What a wonderful way to feel like you are part of a sharing, caring, group. Good luck to everyone. God Bless!
Susie McIntyre:
Thank you so much, I have found the answers to may questions on your Web site. I am starting my first attempt in a couple of days. Susie (England)
meirav:
meirav: I'm 34 and after my 10 IVF, I didn't give up yet but it's very hard during the two weeks waiting. but i still have hope, i got support from you all. don't give up on a child, adopt if IVF dosn't work for you. good luck to all of you/
Julie (Zimbabwe):
Hi, me and dh have not yet started IVF but are seriously thinking about it. The $$$ side of things is pretty hectic and its so worrying when you start really taking notice of statistics!! I would like to know if you could start a "IVF in Zimbabwe" Bulletin board? *S*
tammy:
I currently have a four year old that is an IVF baby. He is the joy of our life. We are currently in the middle of our 4 IVF attempt. The dreaded waiting period before the pregnancy test. With any luck and a few prayers our son will not be an only child. Everyone that is trying and is childless keep your chin up. They are worth every shot in the butt and truly are a miracle.
Lili:
Hi! I'm 38 and dh 58, he has three kids. We've been trying for 3 year to get pregnat with 4 IUS and 2 IVF failed. We will try again this August
Colleen:
Hi, I am 33 and my husband is 45. We have been married 4 years and have been trying ever since to get pregnant. October, 1999 we did our first IUI and it was successful. I miscarried at 12 weeks, a couple days before Christmas. Since the miscarriage we did 4 IUIs and none were successful. We have decided to move on to IVF. I begin suppression drugs (Lupron) in the middle of August. I have found this website very helpful. Thanks!
Lesley:
I am a Canadian and have been living in Australia for 10 years. I have Polysyctic Ovarian Syndrom and after trying many types of treatments I have gone through one unsuccessful cycle of IVF. It is August and I am currently on a frozen embryo transfer cycle. This site is excellent although it does make me cry and I am not sure if that is good!! I wish you all the best on your rollercoaster ride! One day the rollercoaster will stay at the top!
Fionnuala:
I found this web site very helpful. Well done Brenda.
Linda :
This website has been a sanity saver! I have found clinics with adoptable embryos, and a possible private donor. We are limited to donor embryos because of MF, age factor & $$$ DE factor. Thanks! I don't feel so alone now. God used this site to restore hope that our prayers might be answered soon.
Jenn:
I would like to thank everyone for their stories, I suddenly don't feel so alone. My dh and I have been ttc for almost 3 years now. I am only in the early stages of testing. I am still on Chlomid and have had a HSG and a few other tests. Your stories are very helpful I now know a lot more about the proceedure thanks to you. Best of Luck to everyone!
Lydia:
Hello everyone, I sound this site yesterday and it is wonderful to read the bulletin board and communicate with others going through exactly what I am. This is such a difficult, stressful and emotional experience for all of us and we need all the support we can get. I am 33 and my husband is 32, we have been trying for 3 years - ever since we moved to the US from Ireland. We did get pregnant last year using IUI ( 2nd attempt) but we lost that baby at 35 weeks. So close but not close enough. We have been unsuccesful this time using IUI and we have just started IVF. I don't know when the retrevial will be, they said around the 12th of August. Well - good luck to everyone. Lydia
GLP:
Hi, I am 11 weeks pregnant with an adopted embryo. After 7 years of financially and emotionally consuming infertility treatment, it is looking hopeful. It's been a long journey...
C.C.:
I've been on this sight for what seems like forever, but it's been wonderful to have such a support system. I'm 27 and my DH is 33,we have male factor due to my husband having cancer 6 years ago, we've been on the roller coaster for 2 1/2 years,2 IUIS, 2 IVFS, and 2FETS(waiting for results of 2nd FET) wo we'll see!! All I can say is you are all blessings, and I wish you all the best of luck in your journey!
