Herbal Supplements for Fertility

Rate this Entry
I am 37 and have done 4 failed IUI cycles and 2 failed IVF cycles. I am so frustrated and have finally decided to try acupuncture. Has anyone used any herbal supplements they can recommend? There are a lot of different brands out there and I have no idea which one(s) to trust.

Any recommendations will be much appreciated!

This is something you should definitely ask your acupuncturist. They will be happy to give you the right recommendations for herbs and supplements! Good Luck!!

I took a bunch and did a lot of research on it also. I took them up until I started taking my IVF meds, but I only did the short cycle meds. You may be able to take them longer depending on the dr.

Herbs: I buy them at a health food store and go for the organic brands only...no additives.

    Evening Primrose Oil
    Yam (mexican usually)
    Black Cohosh
    Maca

    Vitamins:
    Prenatal

Zinc on top of the prenatal (took another 25mg for fertility they suggest 50-100mgs, prenatals don't have that much

Vitamin D (if you read about it most people are very deficient and it is very involved in fertility) I did a 7 day 50,000 iu build up and now take 4000 iu's a day

I eat very well and this is very important also. Try to stick with organic meats and dairy, you don't need the extra hormones.
I ate a lot of fruit, pineapple has selenium in it which is also great. There is controversy about pineapple. My thoughts are this, if your dr does not say that it is bad, then it is a rumor.

Acupuncture I did also, as well as meditation, and massage.

Of course none of these are a sure thing but they are good for you anyhow, so why not.

I did get pregnant and it was my first IVF cycle, unfortunately I had a chemical but I still believe all I did helped. Knowing I did all I could do has helped me a lot.
