• Saturday Night Live stands up for women's reproductive rights

Saturday Night Live's Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers brought back their Really!?! with Seth and Amy sketch last week, focusing on the personhood movement and the recent GOP push against birth control.

The following are just a few of the exchanges rocketed between the two comedians in this two and a half minute piece:

On Congress's recent hearing on reproductive rights

Seth: Congressman called a hearing on President Obama's healthcare mandate but failed to invite any women ...

Amy: Really. Really Congress? you held a congressional committee on reproductive rights and you did not invite any women? really? That would be like not inviting any men to a congressional committee debating the Maxim Top 100. Really!

On the Republican Presidential Candidates' statements about birth control

Seth: Meanwhile both Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum use the rhythm method. And with five kids and eight kids respectively it seems like they might have even less rhythm than we thought.

On Virginia's latest abortion law and personhood bill

Seth: The Virginia House of Representatives this week passed a bill that required women to have a transvaginal ultrasound before having an abortion.

Amy: Don't get me wrong. I love Transvaginal. It's my favorite airline. I've got so many miles on Tranvaginal that I always get upgraded to Lady Business.

Seth: they also passed a bill that life begins at conception. What's next, life begins at Last Call? Life begins when you click "Send" on your match.com profile? Really.

      Amy's closing exclamation

Amy: Don't tell me what to do!

Clearly, the sketch hit too close to home. In response to the sketch, Virginia Del. Bob Marshall, author of the "personhood" bill tried to defuse the growing viral response to the sketch by attempting his own bit of humor:

“I was scandalized, shocked at the rampant sexist nature of this,” he told NBC. ”I mean for example, that chauvinist Seth answers a question about pregnancy when in fact, it should have been Baby Momma who answers the question about pregnancy. I’ll bet Seth has never been pregnant.”

Really, Delegate Marshall? That's your response to the SNL sketch? This is a serious attack on women's reproductive rights, affecting their bodies, their choices, their lives and their ultimate right to build families when and how they choose to do so. Women have no choice but to take your bill seriously; shouldn't you?
